My Health and why Fundraising is required Post Transplant

This is a question that is on many peoples mind, here are some reasons why. The whole Transplant System is geared towards getting you assistance to afford the Transplant, which is relatively easy to do..Federally, there is Medicaid. Plus, In PA there is something called M.A.W.D or Medical Assistance for Workers Who are Disabled which does carry a premium component of 5% of your SSDI in my case $110.00 per month. SSDI doesn't cover everything and on October 1, 2017, I was required to Transition off MAWD to Medicare. But I have 11 prescriptions and that's where even with a private supplement there are costs that are often unknown to the patient. YES you have a Prescription plan which does a great deal to make medications affordable. BUT this cost monthly is Forever and monthly your looking at roughly $92,00 per month for every day of life take 20 years time $92.00/ month and you're talking about $22,080 Dollars. Then take into account that your supplement is $133 per month PLUS the $134 per month Medicare deduction that will rise over time at a greater rate than you COLA for Medicare and before you know it you are obligated to pay $359 which will rise faster then the 2% bump you get in SSDI, Over 16% of income dedicated to insurance where under Medicaid and MAWD was no more than $110/Month. Then there's what Medicare doesn't cover and it's not a small portion AND worse it's unknown. Is there much help available? Not really unless you start a GoFundMe page and open up to strangers and family members
