"Down in the Valley runs a little Stream, It seems to whisper, Don't give up your Dreams"/ Way back in the Fifties Michael Burt "B" Lilly, younger brother of Everette Lilly, Members to The Lilly Brothers & Don Stover, a world renowned Bluegrass Band wrote that to add to a song titled "I wonder how the Old folks are at home".It made the song a "hit" for them. Having made Friends with the Lilly's later in life that line has stuck with me. And over the years I wondered how many timnow and struggle mightily to follow it. I truly want to help others. Even on a tiny scale. When I got sick I had a job doing Retail Merchandising and Training, often traveling. Well I took a Checkstand reset through West Virginia, Redoing line displays for Foodtown. So I'm in Logan, WV, work completed, in line with a Coke the check out Behind this Young Mother and son. They ring up her total and she's $5,37 short and starts to sob as she tries to tell her son they have to put back his candy and she looking for items to get to $5.37. Well my Mennonite Upbringing erupted and I reach into my pocket and hand her $10.00 saying nothing. WHY? Because it's the right thing to do, that's why. For me there was never a question of what to do in that case. The lady was dumbfounded, crying, thanking me blubbering how she doesn't know me and how could I be so kind, etc, etc I just answered "Don't worry about it" I do try to live a Beautiful Life. Like the words to that song tell us, Each day I'll do a Golden Deed Buy helping those who are in need My life on earth is but a span Each day i'll lend a helping hand chotus Life's evening sun is setting sun is sinking low A few more days and I must go, to meet the deeds that I have done Where there will be, no setting sun
See folks, WE as in You and I are our Brother's Keeper just as the Bible tells us. We must also demand that the government place people first when it comes to allocation of funds. insist
